Saturday Advanced Class Assignment 2
Hello! I was really slow posting this assignment, but after talking to you on Saturday, I know that a lot of you have already done it, and were just waiting for a place to post your answers.
So, remember that your assignment was to interview someone who has been to a wonder of the world (or what we defined as wonders in our class) and then write what you learned about the person’s experience, based on the interview. We also already chose what place each of you would talk about, to avoid repeating places.
Tell me if you have any questions or problems. I’ll be looking forward to your replies below. Have a good week!

I interviewed my coworker about her trip to Taj Mahal. She went to India to a Yoga’s course during one month.
During this vacation she visited Taj Mahal. She mentioned to me that it is amazing place and a lot of people visit this place. Well, she felt like a big emotion seeing this increible building with her eyes.
It appears like a perfect pearl the did to his wife with pure love and the people there look a passion architecture. It was more than she expectated, she said.
Hi Andrea,
Thanks! What about you–would you like to go to the Taj Mahal, or would you prefer to go to other places first?
Also, for corrections:
-during one month–> for one month
-increible–> incredible
-the did to his wife with pure love–> this part is unclear
-look a passion architecture –> same (unclear)
-expectated–> expected
See you in class!

I prefer to go to other places first. I want to go Eastern Island.
Hi Ryan, this is my second homework. I’m going to talk about Chichén Itzá.
For this homework, I spoke whit a friend who visited that place the last year.
She told me that been in that place was an amazing experience for her because it’s a magical place. She said that Chichén Itzá is a huge pyramid and used to be a temple for Maya’s God.
She told me that Chichén Itzá have a lot off stairs and have two snakes on each side. Actually, she said to me that snakes are holy for Maya’s Citizens.
She said to me that around that pyramid the people can found a huge Maya City and that Chichén Itzá is located in a National Park where the weather is very hot and inside of that place all tourist can buy a lot of souvenirs.
Thaks!!! See you on Saturday!!!
Hi Angie,
Good job! Here are a few corrections:
-been–> being
-Maya’s God–> a Mayan god
-Chichen Itza have–> has
-can found–> can find
-Maya (as adjective or noun describing the group of people) –> Mayan(s)
See you in class!
Ryan
I interviewed my uncle because He visited Coco Island. My uncle told me that: He went to Coco Island as a volunteer. He stayed in the island for one month and He worked in different jobs in the island for example: clean the beach, cook and patrol in the beach.
I learn about the island that: the island was indicated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. It is the only emergent island of the Cocos plate. “Cerro Iglesias” is the highest place in the island. The island have many Flora and fauna and the most important is that the island have fauna and flora endemism, the following list is the flora and fauna endemics in the National Park: 70 plants, 64 insects, 2 lizards species, 3 spiders species, 4 birds, more than 200 fish. Exist two versions about name of the Island, the first it’s because the island has many water inside as a “Coco” and the second it´s because the island have palms tree. The “Genius River” Bridge, It was made with marine debris.
Finally He told me that the trip to island was an amazing opportunity and It’s gratifying to help the beautiful island. I will like to visit the island as a volunteer but I scared the sea snake and I need one month minimum of vacations.
Regards,
Marjorie
My friend Helen went to Machu Picchu 3 months ago.
She said it was a magical experience. The people was friendly. She said that a taxi driver told her: “Only thing you will be stolen here be your heart”.
She traveled on a train and bus from Cusco to MP. On the way, she saw a beautiful landscapes.
She told me that MP was hided by mountains and nature.
She said was sad to know that many natal people cannot visit MP because of the price of the transportation, wich is very expensive.
About the food, she said it was very cheap and delicious. She ate alpaca meat, corn with cheese, ceviche, tamal, beer called Cusqueña and a traditional drink make with eggs and lemon.
Hi Nataly,
Nice job! I’d like to go to Machu Picchu some day. How about you?
A few small corrections:
-the taxi driver would have said “The only thing that will get stolen from you here is your heart” or something similar
-hided–> hidden
-natal–> native people or Peruvians
-make with…–> made with
See you in class!
Ryan
Same as you posting this assignment, I was really slow doing it hahaha….But isn´t my fault, It was difficult to interview my friend, because he is a bussy man…working, traveling, family…. you know what it means, but finally it was done!
Here are some facts about the Great Wall of China my friend told me:
He went to China on a working travel, to share knowledge with Chinese people who works in the same company he does. It took him two days traveling from Costa Rica to China. He told me he went there because that place was in his pocket list of places to visit before he die, hahaha. He told me have being in that place was like a dream. He also told me The Great Wall of China had 21 126 Km long, but he just walked 1 km in one hour, because was a hard way there. He thinks that it really is a wonder of the world, and he doesn´t understand how this could have be done without today’s technology.
My friend was in China for two weeks, he aet there weird things like duck´s heads, mushrooms and snails!!!! He told me it was good, but just for one time…
He hopes he could be there again soon, it was wonderful, he said.
See you Ryan!
Hi Jon,
Nice job! I also went to China and the Great Wall, and it was an amazing experience. And actually, the food was one of our favorite parts about China!
A few corrections:
-“people” is plural
-pocket list–>bucket list
-the wall had…KM–> the wall is/was…KM long
Good work, and see you tomorrow,
Ryan

Hi Esteban,
Thanks for your comment! A few corrections:
-called to–> called
-said me–> told me
-here–> there (“here” is Costa Rica)
-this big stones–> these big stones and the color of them
-i asked he, if he want to return…–> I asked him if he wanted to return, and he said of course he wanted to return
(review reported speech)
Thanks!
