Saturday Morning Assignment 3
Hey there! You’re almost done with the course and in fact, you’re also almost done with the entire series of courses. You’ll have this and one more homework assignment to do, so I want you to think about this course and the other ones before it. Then, write a paragraph or two with some thoughts about the class. Include at least 5 uses of the 3rd conditional (past unreal). For example, you could say something like:
If I had been the teacher of this class and Ryan had been the student, I would have made him do homework assignments every week.
Basically, just think about what you liked, what you didn’t like, and what you would change if you had the chance, and then use that information to give me some feedback. Of course, if you have more to say, you can give additional feedback that is not in the 3rd conditional, also. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks!

My experience in Discovery Language Academy have been really good, but I have to say that i would have enjoyed to do something interesting (and imposible hahahaha). For example, if I had had to interview someone famous in English I would have chosen to J.K. Rowling. Because she created the best story in the world: Harry Potter.
I think that it would have been a great idea if Lidio had given us a free travel to a country, just for practice English, obviously. If I had had that chance i would have visited Singapore, because like I commented in class, that is a beautiful and exotic country.
And the most important thing, it would have been really nice to have prepared a special activity with Ryan, for example a Karaoke, because if we have done it, I’m sure that he would have sung “Titanic” of Celine Dion (just kidding).
Seriously, this have been a beautiful time, because I improved my English, I met amazing people and I made excellent friends, and I hope to keep them in my life forever.
Oh Paola Paola Paola,
What part of “No Celine Dion” did you not understand?
Anyhow, thanks for your comment! I’m glad you liked the class and thought it was useful. I also agree that Lidio should pay for all of us to go on a class TRIP to Singapore. We can also stop by a Karaoke place and I can blow up all your eardrums when I sing an Elvis song! 🙂
See you in class,
Ryan
Hi there, regarding the feedback about this and previous courses what I have to say is the following:
I would have assigned other kind of homework if I had been the teacher. Homework that were more appealing for students.
Besides that, if I had been the teacher, I would have made the students perform some role-plays. I think this technique is one of the closer experience to a real life situation.
In addition, if I had been the teacher, I would have evaluated the knowledge with different ways, such as supporting improvisation rather than reading or memorizing.
Last but not least, I would have included more listening exercises, because the students need to be familiar with different accent and context.
P.S: I had been the teacher, I would have been pleased with a student like me. XD lol

Hi Alejandro,
I’m interested in your response since I do genuinely want to make sure the class is relevant for my current and future students.
When you mention appealing homework, can you think of any examples of the types of homework you would consider appealing?
That’s a good idea about role plays and improvisation. I guess I do try to do that, but it’s sometimes hard to get students to improvise on Saturday mornings, haha. But I definitely try to discourage reading and memorizing.
I agree about the listening. I’ll try to do more of that in the future, although it’s hard to fit in everything I want to do in a class. I also think the book isn’t the best match for students’ needs, and I’ll keep trying to get different materials.
So for the final section, you’re saying that your teachers did OK in your opinion?
And I was indeed please to have a good student like you–and your good classmates!
See you on Saturday!
Ryan
If I have the opportunity to be again
with the same group and teacher I would be pleasure, it was an amazing experience.
And I have learned a lot in this course, more that I thought actually.
My English skills are really high since I was on Discovery.
If I were the teacher I would make
the possible to increase the listening skills of the students, maybe it’s the part
that we fail more.
But the rest it’s excellent for me.
My opportunity to learn english in Discovery have been nice I really enjoyed this experience.
I think that would have been good idea if we had had the change to interact more with American teachers because I think that in the last courses we learned a lot with Ryan.
Also if I were a teacher like my classmates said, I would strengthen the listening part because sometimes is complicated to understand other accents.
The others things was ok for me 🙂
And the course helped me to improve my english, and I passed a good time with my new friends.
Since I have been studying, I have been feeling that my english level has increased with each class. Before Discovery I had gone to a lot of jobs interviews and all the time the interviewer said to me that I had had a low level english, but now it have not happened again.
If I had been the teacher, I would have gave chocolates to my students.
If I had the opportunity to reload the class, I would have liked to study more.
If I had the opportunity to chage something about the class, I would have taken off the assigments where the students had to memorize a lot of information, I preferer situation where the student has to improvize their english and the thing that he/she has to say.
If I had to return the time when I took the desition to matriculate in this course, I would have taken it earlier.
My experience in Discovery have been amazing, i enjoyed this opportunity. I really like to went to that course. When I started the course I improve my english too much. I have to say that I like a lot my experience in Discovery, I like the group and everything.
If I had been the teacher, I would have both ice cream for my students.
If I had been the teacher, I would improve the listening of the students.
But the rest it’s amazing, I really enjoyed this course, I improved my english and I meet amazing people. If i had the opportunity to be again in that course with the same people, I would be pleasure.
