Saturday Morning Class – 2nd Homework Assignment
Hi Everyone! I’ve been busy so I’ll make this brief. Your assignment is to write a paragraph or two about what your life would be like (or would have been like) if you had been born in one of the English-speaking countries your classmates talked about. You can’t use the country that you presented. Since we’ll be working more with the third conditional, be sure to use at least five examples of that in your answer. Refer to your book if you want to review that. Good luck!

If i had had to chose a different country than Costa Rica for reborn i would have chosen England, because i think that this is a beautiful place with different things to discover. For that reason, if i had born in England, my life would have been very different. First of all, i would have had a beautiful accent. I would have grown in an amazing town like Lamberhust. I would have been an amazing opera singer and i would have presented my show in the best theater in England, the Royal Opera House.
Probably if i had had chance, i would have participated in every Harry Potter movie’s casting because in my opinion, one of the best things of England is this saga and if i had had chance to participate in a movie i would have chosen this one.
I think that if i had lived in England, probably i would have been married, because i have heard that men in this country are very gentlemen, charming and polite.
Hey Paola,
Nice work!
Capitalize “I,” though!
What’s Lamberhust, and why do you want to live there?
Also, this country is Costa Rica, but THAT country is any other one. So probably say “that” instead.
Thanks, and see you in class!
Ryan
If I had been born in a different country, I would have liked it were Australia, because I like a lot the animals and in this place has a lot of different exotic animal, I think that this country is very relaxed and I like quiet places.
If I had been Australian, I would have liked to studying Biology or something like that, where I could have seen and studied different australian animals like the platypus, koalas, kangaroos, sharks, poisonous snakes, and others.
But I love to be Costa Rican, and If I had the opportunity to change my nationality, I would reject this opportunity.
Hi Joaquin,
Thanks! Like I mentioned to Paola, change “this” to “that” if you’re talking about a different country. Otherwise, the rest looks pretty good.
See you in class!
Ryan
If I had had to choose a different country, I would have chosen Singapore, because Singapore is a beautiful and modern country, also there the weather is tropical so I think this makes it even better.
If I had born in Singapore, I would liked to studying all the languages of that country such as the Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil because I really like learn idioms.
Maybe If I had had the opportunity , I would have studied in some cooking school because I like cook and in Singapore are reconize some delicious dishes so for that reason I would liked to learned from that country’s food.
Hi Priscila!
Thanks for your answer. I think I would have chosen Singapore, too, since it’s pretty unique (although Costa Rica also has tropical weather).
For comments/corrections, make sure to include “to” after like: I like TO learn LANGUAGES (“idioms” are common phrases), I like TO cook, etc.
The third conditional needs some work, too. For example:
“If I had BEEN born (but that’s cause this is passive) in Singapore, I would HAVE liked to HAVE studied…”
and in the third paragraph:
“…for that reason I would HAVE liked to learn ABOUT…”
So it’s all understandable, but you need to make a few small changes. Thanks!
Ryan
If I have to chose for another
country I would choose Singapore, it´s because I think that Singapore it’s a really
interesting country and have a lot of beautiful landscape.
If I had been in Singapore I would
travel around the country to know about their culture and their touristic places.
But if I had the opportunity to go
there, I wouldn´t try their food, it`s the only thing I don’t like about
Singapore.
The food there looked delicious! From the people I know who have been there, they said the food was one of the best parts.
