Saturday Morning Class Homework Week 7

Hello again! This homework assignment is for my Saturday morning class, but everyone is welcome to participate.
Today (February 2nd) is/was Groundhog Day. You can read more information about the holiday here, but it’s not critical to understanding this assignment. It inspired me to create this assignment because there is also a movie called Groundhog Day, starring the always excellent Bill Muray. In that movie, he has to live the same day over and over again until he “gets it right.” Here’s the trailer to the movie (and if you’ve not seen it, you really should, since it’s great):
So, keep that in mind as you read the assignment:
ASSIGNMENT:
Choose one of the following options and write a paragraph or two for your answer in the comments section below. Each option has more than one part, but you don’t necessarily have to answer every question–just be sure to answer completely. And be sure to use some examples of the second conditional!
Option 1: Imagine that you had to re-live today one time. What would you do differently if you could live today again? Give some examples of changes you would make and what you wouldn’t change. Would you change your answer if you had to re-live today 10 times? 100 times?
Option 2: As mentioned before, in the movie Groundhog Day, Bill Murray’s character has to re-live February 2nd thousands of times. If you could (or had to) re-live one day in your life one time, what day would you choose? Was it a good or bad day? Would you do something differently? What if you had to re-live it 1,000 times? What would you try to do to kill the time?
Good luck, and tell me if you have any questions!

Option 2:
If i could to re-live one day of my life, i would choose one day of my childhood with my grandfather. I don’t remember a specific day, but i would choose some day, it’s because i think that i didn’t have enough time to share with him, because he was my best friend during my first years of life and he was like a super hero for me. I can remember many things, many moments enjoying together and i really miss him. He died in 2004 but i can remember his face, his voice like it had passed yesterday. Everyday was perfect with my grandfather, he made me smile and if i had the opportunity to do something differently, i would try to talk and stay with him for much time and i would say him “i love you” every minute.
If i had to re-live my childhood with my grandfather over and over again i would be the happiest person in the world because i wouldn’t have to think in problems or bad things, i could talk or play with the best man in this planet that i have met and i would learn the best of him. I wouldn’t need to kill the time because i could have many things to do with my grandfather, like tell him some stories, jokes or sing him something pretty like i used to do many years ago.
So, this is what would i do if i had this chance.
Hey Paola,
Nice job! My grandpa also died in 2004, and I still miss him a lot. You had a really complete answer. Some comments about the English use:
-Capitalize the word/pronoun “I”!
In the second paragraph you have some problems with prepositions:
-think of (not in)
-on this planet (not in)
-learn from him (not of)
The rest looks great. Thanks!
Ryan
I chose option 2.
If I had to re-live one day of my life could be when I was in ninth grade, one of those days my classmates and I were making jokes about everything, that day if I had to re-live it again I could be really happy, because I could say that it was one of the funniest day of my life, actually since that day we never have been together so, I would like to repeat it again.
If I had the change to repeat another day might be in a party of my high school, was really fun, I passed the time with old friends and I made new friends too, so If I had the change to re-live one day, one of those days could make really happy, because and actually I could made some changes to make it
better.
Hello Zuleyka,
Good job! Everything looks clear, but try to divide your paragraphs up into multiple sentences. Just making long sentences with lots of commas is weird in English.
Make sure you say “chance” and not “change”
Also, you’d probably say “spend time” instead of passed.
The rest looks good. See you tomorrow!
Ryan
Hi there, Option 2 too!
Thanks God all my relatives are alive, but if any of them was died, I would re-live one pretty nice day with that person.
So, since all of them are alive, I would choose one day from my childhood if I could re-live one day in my life one time.
If I could re-live one day from my childhood, I might play the whole day without worries.
If I were child again, I would enjoy it at all since I should not work eight hours.
If I had to re-live it 1,000 times, I should do different and different things to avoid get bored.
Hey Alejandro,
Good! Everything looks OK, but there are a few small changes I’d make:
-Thanks God–> Thank God (no “s”)
-If I were child –> If I were a child
Nice job! See you in class,
Ryan
Hi, option 2
If I had to re-live a day, I would not like to re-live a specific day, I would like to go back to some days when I took some important decisions in my life, change my decision and watch what would happen in this moment if had taken that decision.
If I had to re-live one day 1000 times , I would do different things each day, for example, all the times we think “what could happen if I had done …? ” I would try to do all those thing.
this would be funny, but at the same time it would be worrying if I did not know if that ends the 1000th day.
Joaquin,
Good answers! A few changes:
-Normally say “make” a decision, not take.
-All those things
-That would be funny
Everything else looks OK!
Ryan
Option 2
If I could to re-live one day , could be when I was ten years old, because in those days I have fun with my family , If I had the opportunity to re-live just one day I would choose the christmas of that year, this christmas was the best because I was with my cousins , grandpa and uncles , I would be very happy If I could repeat this day because now for us is very complicated be together.
If I had to repeat these day many times I would like do different things to learn something all the days.
Hi Priscila,
Thanks! Same as the last comment, be sure to divide the sentences with periods, not commas.
Also, make sure you’re speaking in the past (have–> had).
Christmas is also capitalized, since it’s a holiday name.
These/those days (plural) or this/that day (singular)
All the days–> Every day
Good job!
Ryan
If I could have the opportunity to re-lîve one day in my life and I could have the chance to change something I could choose when I was 5 years old, and maybe could not change anything because in this age I remember that I had so happy, i wasnt worry about nothing, only to play and playall day and whatch tv and go to school in the morning.
I could choose the day when my bro and me was a children and play toguetter and watched the same programs and movies.
It is could be cute and I could be loved the chance to to saw my baby brother again with 3 years old.
Hi Monserrat,
Thanks for your post. It all makes sense and looks good, but be sure to do a double-check before posting. There were small errors like “i,” “I had happy,” “playall,” etc. But like I said, you get your point across and I understand, so that’s good!
See you in class,
Ryan
